WATER TREKKING

Water trekking is an added feature included in the list of services offered to our esteemed clients. In simple terms water trekking is a river cruise by a taxi boat known as 'shikara'.

By tradition water trekking is a river cruise ,undertaken in a gondola type boat,locally known as 'shikara' through the historic Old City (downtown of ancient city of Srinagar) down the River Jehlum (ancient Sanskrit name Vitasta) to the shores of mighty Wular Lake, the largest fresh water lake of Asia. The boat cruise can be completed in 3 - 4 days. Return journey can be made by car.


This famous river cruise was once very popular with Europeans who traveled to Kashmir in search of fun and adventure. The journey opens a window to peep into the remains of once multicultural civilization that evolved along the banks of Jehlum.
The cruise boat is specially furnished to accommodate 3 - 4 persons on the floor with cushions for the comfort of the clients. The boat is pulled by 2 oarsmen at the helm. Camping gear,bedding and kitchen and the cook all go along with the boat.
